DISINFECT AND SCOUR WITH BLEACH WATER

When is it useful?
The diapers have been in contact with a contagious disease, you bought second hand diapers or you're experiencing issues with odors.
You will need to use disinfectant bleach (at least 5.25% sodium hypochlorite or with mention “kill viruses / – germ” or instruction for disinfection).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE (must be done on clean diapers)

  1. Fill your washing machine or bath tub with cold water and add ½ cup (or 125 ml) bleach for a medium load.
Note that bleach is only used in cold water.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Soak for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Empty the tank and rinse with hot water.
The hot water disables the bleach, this step is very important.
  5. Rinse without soap nor bleach at least twice or until you no longer see foam.
  6. Wash in warm water with your usual detergent.

STRIPPING WITH OXICLEAN

When is it useful?
When the diapers smell like stools, baby is having skin irritation, or you're experiencing regular leaks.
You will need to use Oxyclean.

  1. Fill your washing machine or bath tub with hot water (60°C) and add ¼ cup Oxyclean (or 62.5 ml) for a medium load.
  2. Stir well and leave to soak overnight (or at least 4 hours).
  3. Empty the tank and rinse with warm water.
  4. Do a regular wash with a spinning cycle at the end.
  5. Repeat the previous step until you no longer see foam.
